My website 10 years ago
When people asked about creating web pages ten years ago, in the early days of the Internet, this was an easy question to answer.
Most people who were thinking about setting up a website would just ask their 12-year-old son, or the kid next door, or their cousin’s brother’s friend who did this work from his basement.
Today, don’t even think about asking any of those people.
Remember, just because you were sick in the hospital, that doesn’t make you a doctor; likewise, just because you have a computer, that doesn’t make you a website developer!
In the early days, you created a website and you put it online (called hosting). Then, you forgot about it because your site took care of itself. People would find your site and link to it. Your website would show up in the Google index almost as if by magic.
That was all you needed to know about your website.

Today, after you set up a website online, you’re not done. You need to perform SEO. SEO is Search Engine Optimization and, without SEO, you won’t get very far in the search results of any search engine, including Google. Especially Google because Google is the most used search engine.
If you have a website now, you need to do SEO…or pray a lot.
That’s the first thing you need to know: create a site and do SEO.
