Social Media Info

“People ARE talking about you on Social Media.
Shouldn’t YOU be part of the conversation?

Social Media Info, has different meanings for different people; however, Social Media, is defined by Wikipedia in the following way…

Social media are interactive computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation or sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks.

For everyone who is not Wikipedia, Social Media is principally Facebook,  Instagram, and LinkedIn. Twitter, is also a social medium but has been less important as it’s being overwhelmed by Facebook and Instagram.

Google+, the platform that Google hoped would equal Facebook, has been completely removed from consideration – it doesn’t exist any longer.

Social Media Info - Accolade Group of VermontThe list above is by no means exhaustive. Don’t forget Yelp, Zomato, and many others. These can all be part of your SEO effort.

Facebook has maintained its popularity because it offers people a place to tell others what they have done, what they are doing, what they will do. In short, it gives everyone a microphone to talk about every facet of his or her life. And that may be way too much social media info.

But, since you are considering building a website, and you plan to use Facebook as part of your SEO off-page strategy, Facebook is something a little different.

For you, Facebook is a place for you to talk about your business.

A place for you to post photos about some of your accomplishments.

You can practically say everything on Facebook that you want others to know. But, there is a warning: don’t copy information from your website and paste it in Facebook – or any other social medium, such as LinkedIn. This is a no-no in the eyes of Google. You should keep social media info on social media and your business specific info on your website.

It is sometimes difficult to not put everything on some social media platform like Facebook.

After you put all your information on Facebook, what benefit do you hope to attain?

First, you hope that potential clients will learn about your business and hire your company.

Second, and perhaps of equal importance, is your hope that Google will notice your Facebook presence and determine that your business is a legitimate one. This is very beneficial especially if people are making positive comments about what you do.

Should your business have a Facebook presence?

Yes, absolutely.

However, it should not be the same as your personal Facebook page. Don’t mingle your business with your life.

Very frequently clients ask us to help with their online SEO and Facebook is normally the first thing they mention. When we look at what they have put online at Facebook, not only do we see the “Items On Sale This Week”, but, unfortunately, we see something like “Look at these photos of grandpa roaring inebriated at cousin Mary’s wedding.”

Really, we see this.

You can see the problem for the business that has mixed family life with business life. Don’t Do It!! We can help with this.

Remember, don’t mix YOUR social info with your social media info.

Accolade Group can work with you to set up a Facebook page for your business and help you to maximize its potential.
