When the client discusses with us the vision that they have, we try to determine if their ideas can be translated into the digital realm. What platform is good? What platform is better?
Although a business may have many ways to advertise itself, our concern is the digital arena. We are not qualified to advise about print media, billboards, Television advertising and the like. However, we can turn those non-digital media concepts into action on the Internet.
The world of Digital Marketing is quite large. It is all too easy to become lost in the complexities of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and a multiplicity of other media that currently exist. And, new media are being created and put online constantly.
Should the client put a product or service both on Facebook and on LinkedIn? How often does one need to tweet to maintain a viable presence on Twitter?
Sometimes, what a business owner thinks he should do or not do with digital marketing is guided by an incorrect understanding of a particular platform like Facebook.
In these instances, it is our job to explain the purpose and audience of a particular digital medium. Often, this is contrary to what the client thinks. However, to let the client roam freely without understanding is to waste the client’s money and to put our reputation at risk.
A by-product of the discussion is the greater understanding that we gain about the client’s business and how they think it should be promoted. After all, who better to understand a business than the business owner?
